Project Manager (Mechanical)

    Reports to: Dy. General Manager / Director, Operations

    1. Summary of Duties

    The Project Manager reports to the Dy. General Manager and is responsible for providing overall management direction for two or more projects and developing new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients. Makes decisions and recommendations that can greatly impact corporate relationship with client and profitability of projects that he manages. Acts without close supervision. Proven experience and judgment is vital. Initiative, decisiveness, tact, integrity, judgment, leadership skills, and technical knowledge are essential to achieving project and corporate goals. Job-related contact can occur virtually with all demographic groups, with the majority of daily contacts being with DANEM / OVERSEAS Mechanicals employees and customers/clients.

    Job stress will range from moderate to extreme, with an average day being moderately stressful.

    Representative Duties Include

    Planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of the Project. Scheduling jobs based on the known or expected complexity of the perceived work against the capabilities of available craft workers and the planned or promised completion time/date.

    Managing the financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Customer/Client.

    Participating in contract negotiations with customer/client.

    Planning, organizing and staffing key field project positions in concert with Dy. General Manager / Director, Operations and other project/construction managers.

    Prepare, review and submit various method statements like Fabrication, Erection, Scaffolding & Rigging Method Statements etc....

    Managing and overseeing the hiring and the termination of field trade personnel, as needed, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Managing equipment, special tools, vehicles and, if needed, be the supply needs for the Project.

    Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent or Foreman to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.

    Managing and leading, if needed, the on-site efforts of employees and subcontractors in accordance with contractual terms and conditions.

    Training designated employees in proper installation procedures, practices, and promotion of the Mechanicals customer/client satisfaction guarantee philosophy.

    Managing the necessary administrative records and controls to protect the interests of the corporation and the customer/client to include prompt and accurate invoicing.

    Resolving customer/client concerns and complaints in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

    Working with suppliers/vendors on pricing, performance, reliability, and availability.

    Providing annual performance appraisals for all employees involved with projects being managed.

    Implementing quality control procedures for applicable projects to ensure optimal customer/client service, efficient use of equipment and time, and meeting of corporate strategic and budgetary goals.

    Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.

    Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts, to facilitate construction activities.

    Represent company in project meetings, assist in labor management/strategy meetings, etc.

    Maintaining liaison with the Dy. General Manager and the accounting and collections staff on problem accounts receivable.

    Working with other employees and the Dy. General Manager / Director - Operations in support of the corporate goals, mission, and vision and with other Project Managers and employees in support of all facets of the Group of Companies.

    Performing management level duties and assuming additional responsibilities as directed by the Dy. General Manager / Director - Operations.

    2. Job Qualifications

    20 years of combined practical and academic experience in the full range of Mechanical & Piping, Pipe Lines, Erection & Construction. Educational and experience requirements include BE 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, plus extensive experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management with at least 10 years of it in a supervisory capacity.

    Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.

    Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.

    Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills are essential.

    Must be a skilled businessman.

    Possess a mechanical aptitude.

    Experience to analyze a typical field situation and provide a timely, correct solution.

    Ability to successfully direct and coordinate the requirements of the customers, employees, outside suppliers, delivery schedules, and subcontractors.

    Ability to negotiate orders with suppliers and vendors to ensure prompt and timely delivery at the lowest possible price.

    Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work equally well with potential customers, customers, employees, support team members, and the general public.

    Excellent leadership and supervisory skills to motivate his/her employees to higher achievements and to keep the employee morale high.

    Ability to visit employees at the actual job-site, e.g. rooftops, crawl spaces, confined spaces, Hot Spaces etc.

    Must not have fear of heights (acrophobia).

    Skill and ability in recognizing, estimating and obtaining acceptance of change orders.

    Ability to comprehend and implement applicable related local government laws, codes and regulations.

    Current drivers license and the ability to drive all types of vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment. 

    Possess good vision (either naturally or with correction).

    Proficiency with the following computer software programs: MS Project, Prima Vira (preferred), Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel.

    Production Manager - Mechanical
        B.E (Mechanical) having 15 - 25 or DME with 25 years of experience in Heavy Structural Steel Fabrication / Erection line in Oil & Gas, Power, Cement & Petrochemical Industries. 
        Age 40 to 50 years.
        Must have good command over English, Hindi, Malayalam etc.

        Job Description 
        To complete the job as per the manufacturing / fabrication / erection specifications within the targeted time frame achieving product quality.
        To get the items fabricated inspected and tested maintaining strict quality controls.
        To be responsible for ensuring that the items manufactured meet the Company's standards, policies & practices in accordance to client requirement.
        Will be responsible for overall activity of Production, Quality to enhance the production to man & machine.
        To handle the customers during their factory visit.
        To demonstrate the earlier projects and get the company's standard products approved by the customers.
        To assist customer support team.
        To coordinate with concerned department for quality improvement.
