Description: 
The Design Engineer Mechanical, provides effective engineering solutions on existing technical problems in the manufacturing units or departments at EQUATE to achieve the optimum output and performance from the plant. In addition, this role provides overall quality assurance for company projects and acts as a quality personnel reference by adhering to international standards, codes, company work processes and specifications to ensure the highest quality for projects.


Requirements 


HSE: 
Knowledge of Company HSE policy, rules and procedures (HSE MS) and in particular ISO14001 standard.
Observance of the company HSE policy, rules and procedures.
Participation to HSE activities and global improvement (e.g. referential, reporting, REX, audits, Maestro, trainings, HSE action plans)


Others: 
Need to have qualified experience in process piping design and layout.
Previous experience in brownfield petrochemical or oil/gas mechanical projects is preferred.
Previous experience with reputable EPC contractors is preferred.
Experience with piping stress analysis with Ceaser II is preferred.
Responsibilities
Develops the desired engineering scope of work for small, medium, and large projects in accordance with the established engineering standards.
Designs and ensures that new installations in the field and modifications meet or exceed the requirements of relevant EQUATE & applicable local and international engineering standards.
Evaluates the present site conditions to provide accurate technical solutions to the projects originator.
Prepare and perform site survey including photos and measurements to ensure that designs are good for implementation


Conducts site visits in the petrochemical plant to design, check and verify the feasibility of new piping or equipment layouts and arrangements.
Propose concepts applicable to the requested modification and define the most appropriate one.
Coordination with engineers in charge or of other discipline
Develops new piping layout and isometric sketches with all the required information, which include as a minimum dimensions, elevations, coordinates, bill of materials etc.
Works jointly with the CAD technician to finalize the preparation of piping drawings.
Develops procurement specifications for new piping specialty items or equipment.
Reviews vendor deliverables for new piping systems.


Reviews vendor deliverables for new stationary equipment.
Provides reviews and quality control project technical input requirements for engineering duration, resource forecasting, planning, scheduling, procurement, installation, inspection, checkout, commissioning, and as-built to develop cost effective technical packages.
Ensures all projects complies with EQUATE regulations as imposed by EH&S and local governmental authorities.
Acts as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing engineering support and consultations for internal manufacturing units and other departments for aligning any Management Of Change (MOC) notice with EQUATE and international standards and codes requirements. 
Requests, inspects, accepts, and approves procured materials to ensure quality compliance with projects design and procurement specifications.
