    The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU is a national science Research Centre of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies.


    Geospatial Engineer

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Carries out Terrestrial Lidar at remote locations, in different countries, processes data, and produce deliverables as per required by the lead researchers of the project.
    Participate is Airborne Lidar surveys, assist in overall planning, organization and management of the survey work and works as operator of the Airborne Lidar instrument, download, archive and processes data to produce DEM, DSM, and other forms of end product.
    Carries out surveying job in field, using Total Station, GPS etc and produce results to the satisfaction of the researchers.
    Maintains all surveying and Lidar equipment existing in TO.
    Manages all GIS related softwares and servers, and works with the researchers to facilitate use of these softwares by others.
    Undertake trainings in developing expertise in mastering use of new software and new techniques in related fields of geomatics, as and when required.
    Will need to carry out frequent and prolonged field work at remote places of different countries in South and SE Asia. Travelling often involves flying in small aircraft and travelling by boat.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    A bachelors degree in any field of geomatics, or a bachelors degree in any branch of engineering with at least three years of experience in geospatial field (surveying, lidar, remote sensing, GIS), OR diploma in geospatial engineering field with at least five years of experience in geomatics.
    Expertise in using GIS softwares like ArcGIS or other similar software.
    Experience in handling and processing terrestrial and airborne Lidar survey.
    Working knowledge in handling GPS in kinematics mode for surveying purposes.
    Working knowledge in handling Total Station instruments for surveying work.
    Skill in programming languages.
    A good computer competency in Windows and Linux platforms.
    Able to work independently, to provide advice to researchers and to handle and maintain equipment in the field.

    Field Engineer (seismic)

      The Earth Observatory of Singapore invites applications for a Field Engineer (Seismic). 

      RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Installation of new seismic stations
      Setting up telemetry if needed
      Maintenance of the seismic networks including instrumentation troubleshooting, data download and telemetry (if installed)
      Setting up and maintenance of server to be set up in host countries
      Archiving data at EOS Data Centre respecting international standards
      Examining quality of data and take follow up action
      Keep relevant parties at EOS, including TO and PIs, up-to-date on equipment status and developments
      Keep well communication with PI and TO to plan, install and maintain the instruments to provide the high-quality data for the specified scientific purpose.

      REQUIREMENTS: 
      Diploma in Engineering (any of electronic, telecom, electrical) with at least two years experience in handling seismic or other geophysical instruments OR Bachelor in Engineering (any of electronic, telecom, electrical) OR Graduate in Physics with at least one year experience in handling seismic instruments OR Graduate in GeophysicsExpertise in using GIS softwares like ArcGIS or other similar software.
      Comfortable with frequent and extensive travels to remote places of different South and SE Asian countries, e.g Myanmar, Indonesia, Nepal etc and physically fit and motivated to travel via various modes of transportation.
      A strong sense of team work and capability
